Dang, something just occured to me. Can't believe it's never crossed my mind before. Some of the old timers will probably get a kick out of it. Someday, I'm going to get on here and see some bitchin' new build that at the same time is perfectly traditional and completely different than anything done before. Something that gives me that feeling in my stomach when I want a car so bad I can just feel it. We'll all be talking about it and how the guy is a ruler. How it's the baddest car on the planet. And it'll be built by some kid that wasn't even born yet when I joined the HAMB. He'll have had the influence of the Jalopy Journal and the HAMB his whole freakin' life. I really look forward to and also dread that.
Happy 15th, and thank you. I need to post more, but have to say there's plenty of good reading on here. Awesome site.
Regardless what you think. It's your leadership that made this place what it is today. It could have easily fallen on its face regardless of the subject matter. It is your cool head, fore-site, and judgement.. period. You handled many things in a mature manor over the years. And your leadership makes this a fun place to hang out. Thanks Ryan. You are a hero.
I first found the JJ back in 98, it's changed quite a bit. Always for the better. Best site on the internet, period. Thanks for the hard work!
HAMB 1.0, those were some times. Keep going Ryan, this place is a powerhouse and a store of knowledge. It has been fun to be along for the ride. Ted
Congrats Ryan. You should be proud of the work you've done here. I lurked for several years when you started this thing. Wish I had joined sooner. It's been cool to see the Jalopy Journal mature. I used to use the Journal at the office to check our outside network connectivity since I knew I was the only one in the building who knew it even existed. That won't work now. Any chance of posting a few shots of the original board so the FNGs can see where it all began?
Here's a special treat for you guys - what the JJ looked like in December, 1998! http://web.archive.org/web/19990302050717/www.jalopyjournal.com/mainmenu.htm Enjoy! To see what it looked like in other years, click here: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.jalopyjournal.com ~Jason
Congratulations, Boss. I bet you had no idea that things would snowball like they did 15 years ago. I for one am damn grateful to have this home away from home; a crowded shop where I can participate in some lively bullshit and benchracing, or sit quietly in the corner and watch history unfold in the dust motes of sunbeams falling on faded paint and greasy gears. I love this place.
I'm VERY glad you had the idea for the Forum, As were else would I go to learn SO MUCH about the early days and the ones who keep the flame lit for TRUE Hot Rods and Customs.Happy Birthday J.J. and THANKS Ryan. Nick.
i owe one of my best friendships to the HAMB. wouldn't even know the guy without it. thanks RYAN for the idea. thanks to EVERYONE ELSE for running with it.
