Love those vintage race cars. I live near Watkins Glen and always try to make the vintage races.

Fur biscuit, thats gotta be a blower bentley right?

Those glass fuel flow thingies are the raddest thing I have ever seen! watching the 'lifeblood' of the motor gurgling through right there on the dash as you drive along? I LOVE it.

Im going to try to capture some of the feel of all those photos in my 32 roadster..it aint easy to get that casual, random ,yet kinda symmetrical, placement of instruments in a 32 dash, but thats my evening musings after i finish work for an hour or so most nights..i reckon it'll take a month, and some more instrument collecting. Clock is next on my list..
Dad has a Yakolev flight chronometer sitting on his desk..wonder if he would miss it??

the picture of the Delage on dirt...I wish that they would run some more races on dirt, so many of the race cars at the time were designed to run on varied surfaces, it would be great to see a collection of those cars running on a dirt road race course.

    That Steering wheel is awesome!

  27. The swirl on that wheel caught me off guard. Always thought that was a more modern design element.

Wow. Can you imagine checking the vitals with that dash? Oil Pressure, check. Fuel Pressure, check. Flaps, check. Landing gear, check...

  30. ya, I know it's an old thread...FYI those glass bowls aren't fuel bowls, they are oil. They drip/flow at a certian rate to let you know you have enough oil(or any) pressure/flow to it respective area. The really early cars didn't really go by oil pressure, since alot of the components weren't pressurized, just splash oiled....hence the visual drippers. I guess it's kinda like what they say about old Harleys...if it's not dripping oil...you need to add some...;) very neat pics btw, I think dashes are one of the most important part of your ride...you look at it more than any part of your car...or should.
