Wait till' those idiots see what that salt does to their nice polished aluminum. It's not the badge of courage they think it is.

 

Agreed. As a life long snow belt resident I can attest to the fact that no amount of car washes will completely rid any vehicle of all the salt on and in it, it will remain in small crevices for years and rust never sleeps.
I cringe when I see those photos of guys driving through 3-4 inches of standing water after a thunderstorm at Bonneville.

 

At least spray it down with something before the event.
I would guess my car put on 25 to 30 lbs after the short course the year I was there.

 

We sprayed our bike with salt protective stuff when we were on the salt in 2010. Made the salt easy to hose off, but was absolutely no protection for the polished aluminum, engine. Had to take it apart when we got home and send everything out for re polishing. I could not believe that amount of corrosion and pitting after only 4 days. Should have sprayed it off after every run.

That's pretty cool! I ended up grabbing the polished Herbert Hat Injector. Those are pretty rare as well, I believe about 60 of those were made. Some local guys have one on their 392 Hemi in a 1969 Digger which is thought to be a Woody car.

Bruce Larsons, USA 1 Funny car. I got to talk to him this past sunday at a show I took my coupe to. He said my coupe just gets better and better, what a nice guy, and friend. He had one of his funny cars on display, I tried to talk him into firing it up. LOL.

 

I would have been trying for a lap in it myself.
