Jack, back when Edelbrock was making the X-3, (1958-1960ish, depending on who you ask), Vic Edelbrock modified 15 intakes to fit 8 carbs instead of 6. This is one of the 15. I know it sounds like a far fetched tale, but I talked to Smitty Smith at edelbrock and he verified the origin. He says they have one on display.

This one was apparently set up for a boat, because the carbs were backwards. I tried running it on the dragstrip that way, but there was an issue with the fuel in the bowls sloshing away from the main jets at launch. So I turned the carbs around the right way and it solved that.

 

It's too bad that they aren't willing to recreate another batch!!! Man that is one awesome intake! Thank you for catching up with me, and telling me the history.
