  1. I'm having trouble with the app, so I hope this works.

For the first time in months the drive train is complete. Winfield equipped banger backed by a 39 trans and a stock rear. I am going to try my hardest to break that so I can justify a Columbia 2 speed.

Anyways while I had the rear end out I took the rear spring apart again. I had 6 leaves in it and it was a little soft. So I put anothet leaf in. Hand chamfered the spring leaf ends and assembled it with graphite lube and painted it. Its a good amount of spring, but its a little taller. I think/hope it will settle. The six leaf did

Looks good there. If it settles a little, even better.

First pic looks like not too much of a rake. The angle on the second one a little more. The tire looks like it follows the fender shape well. Just a cool truck, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

  9. Thanks, pretty sure it will. The last one did about 1 1/2 inches. Its just not as low as I picture in my head

Sure is. Its going fairly quick now. I need to get it done soon. It should be pretty fun!. Got a few more details to work out. But nothing crazy. Took it a whole lot further than I planned to.

  18. I like the stance. Don't get it too low...you won't be able to use it as a pickup ;)

  19. i would guess that your itching to get this thing back on the road especially after chris posted the video of his truck running

where the heck is all you washington guys snow at..we are covered her in chicago
    tk

  20. Progress is looking great.
Is that a new aluminum Winfield head?
If so how was it? I've heard differing opinions on the quality of them.
I'm trying to decide on a new head.
    Thanks

  21. I bought a new 6.4:1 Winfield head for the B in my old coupe. Ran great, only issue was the threaded hole for the distributor set screw eventually stripped. Heli-coiled it and away we go

  22. Thanks I like it too. Its already settled 3/8 of an inch as well.

    Big big itch.

I personally live right at about 400ft above sea level, we don't get alot of snow right here. But we are within about an hour of the mountains. 1 inch of snow shuts down the entire city. It turns to ice quick and we have crazy steep hills. Other than thay, we have a mild climate with 4 seasons.

    Thanks!

The head is actually a Super Winfield cast iron head produced by Bell Auto Parts after WWII under license from Ed Winfield.

  23. Good to know guys
    Thanks
I've been looking at the 6.4 to 1 Winfield or the Snyders 6 to 1
Just something sexy about it saying Winfield across the top.
I wish I could find a real Yellow head and be able to afford it!

    Snow? What's snow?

Matt, looks good as is I think. Keep going, your progress keeps me motivated to get some stuff done on mine...

  25. I got pretty lucky and got the Super Winfield head, intake, 2 carbs, and 2 cams for the cost of a new head. I wouldn't nearly be this far along or have the engine hop ups I do now if I didn't score those. I hope I am doing it justice on this truck.

I have to say your car and progress has been a huge motivation to me too.
