This reply to Mazooma's reminiscences about street racing in LA is probably where this thread should go. I mean, there're only so many street scenes and beach trips until it looks like more of the same.

Unless Doug doesn't mind scanning more of that book, that is some great shit!

Of course, maybe there is still some buried treasure out there, who knows.
I'm still looking and I know HollywoodGraham is too.

The Golden Submarine has been discussed on the HAMB many times. Here it is in 1917 with Driver Barney Oldfield at Ascot.

I could not find an actual photo of the place but this match book cover is for a restaraunt that many people confuse with World Famous TOMMY BURGERS. So if someone says Tommy's is Ptomaine Tommy's he is mistaken.

L.A. has a bunch of parks but nothing like this anymore. East Lake Park (now Lincoln Park) had many attractions in and near the park.

Selig Zoo at East Lake Park. Selig was the first major movie studio in L.A. and opened a museum to keep their animals.

Ostrich Farm close to East Lake Park. L.A. had several Ostrich Farms as the feathers were very popular for hat at the time. There was even one in Griffith Park which had a train running to it for tourist.

Posted it early in the thread. Guess this might be an argument for posting pics one at a time, makes them easier to reference. Hard to find when there're 10 pics per post. (?)

It's only not in LA to you SoCal folks. To the rest of us the entire metro area is "LA". LA County, Orange County, etc. . . . close enough. :)

Early Channel 5 KTLA had cowboy star Tim McCoy star in his own show. Tim featured indigenous American people, crafts and language on his show

Lookie here it's Roy Rogers, William "Hopalong Cassidy" Boyd and who is the other guy? It's Al Jarvis who was one of the most popular DJ's on radio with his "Make Believe Ballroom" program on then rock and roll KFWB. Eventually KRLA and BOSS RADIO KHJ dropped them to 3rd place and they went all news then talk/news. Jarvis did a tv dance program also.
