Hey Rickybop, check in with metalman, I think he's looking to get something going completely separate from the B.S. this turned into...

Bill, all I can say is sorry man, but the way this ended really put you in a bad light and that's too bad.

The thread got closed from the drama queens, I think this idea can still work if the people serious about it can work it out, The idea should have been from the beginning, to use it to interest kids in Hot rods, thats the entire point of this board is to promote that, well not just kids but Hot rods, If we don't interest kids they eventually will vanish. Most of them today don't have the chance to get their hands on mechanical things, shop classes are all but extinct, daddy has super oil do the oil change on the prius, etc. The drama needs to stop because if this can be worked out, this can be a valuable tool for everyone who loves to work on their cars. There are so many garbage unsafe builds out there today, that many people think all hot rods are like that, this is the reason so many BS laws keep getting passed. This car could serve to educate people that a car like this can be build safely and properly. :) this post isn't meant to be a drama post in any way, just something to ponder. please don't post drama about it, thanks!!:D

Another great thread ravaged by dickheads.

just because the post is closed doesn't mean the project has to die, Ryan said he has to ponder this, give him some time and maby it can be worked out, If the Hamb Andy car can succeed, this can succeed, imagine how much fun members could have visiting hospitals and letting little sick kids see it, kids are awesome, some today are unsupervised and pretty wild, but there's still a lot of good kids out there who love cars. It would be like driving a hot wheels car up in their eyes.

Breeder!...oh, man...it's you. I thought everybody was gone.

So...gotta say..."WTF?" Seems everything was goin' fine, then a couple of guys started getting hot to get the coupe to metalman's shop. Then trulyvintage started pressuring Bill with his "Bullshit Alert", and accused him of not being willing to relinquish control, and using the forum for his own gain. Bill got disgusted, and sold the coupe to the first responder for $1.00.

trulyvintage...you have no right to post PMs that were sent to you in cofidence. And I don't see any good reason for giving Bill this shit-talk. Way to go.

metalman...I appologize for my previous remarks within this post...had my facts wrong. It was trulyvintage that was doing the vast majority of the pressuring, and also who posted that PM from Bill...not you. I may have misjudged your eagerness for grabbiness, though I did detect some discord from you.

What I saw, this thing was ready to get off the ground. Jim was in charge of transport and metalman was the first stop, but I don't think Jim knew where the body was. Jim is a working fella and can't wait around to plan a trip cause that is potential money out of his pocket. Somewhere, a crucial step was missing.

So...even if there are some glitches in timing, just "wait 'til the next train comes around." No need to pressure Bill with public (or apparently also private) needling and offensive accusations...unless you've got an agenda.

But what I'm getting is that maybe Bill wasn't letting Jim know where the body was so he could get things in motion. I guess we should have all kept waiting? I don't know, but this thing is done. Maybe that is what we should name it, "Done".

I think the idea would work if it was like invite-only, so you can get some quality people and keep out the drama queens, and it could be kept a little more behind the scenes.

Anyway, these HAMB Coupe threads should go away now.

I don't think this put's Bill in a bad light, as much as some others.....

Pretty accurate summation of the events, and another good, generous idea, killed by the ambitions of others!

i also agree that in the end Bill comes out looking fine in my eyes, as far as some other folks, well that's another story. was a neat idea, i'm surprised Bill lasted as long as he did, personally i wouldn't have made it past the first couple accusations without wanting to choke some people, but that's the internet for you and on that note back to the garage

Bills heart was in the right place, he got stitched on a coupe body and decided to make a grand gesture to the hamb.
He was accussed of trying to keep control or being a control freak but he was just making sure things were set before getting started.
Being accussed of using his donated shell to bring focus to a few cars for sale in his sig line is petty.
    Sad end

  25. i was the lucky guy he picked it up for a buck... i will keep everyone informed. i feel bad that the idea went south, but i will bring it back to its glory days someday

here is my first hot rod build... we literally finished tyin up the loose ends today. i can promise you the HAMB coupe will be built in traditional style

The guys that blew this don't deserve to be on the hamb. Please delete your membership if you have any honor at all.

As such, I'm sure you'll be shooting your mouth off again soon on someone else. This won't be forgotten. Please leave.

Maybe I was looking at it wrong, I sure don't think that he was trying to jack us around just to sell some cars, I don't believe that one bit. I just meant that in the end, when you let people dictate your actions, this turned out exactly like the naysayers said it would. His grand gesture and goodwill shot to heck, he's gone, and we're probably not going to see the participation again like we did on this build.

Whatever opinions you may have had concerning Bill's motives should have been dealt with privately, not splashed out here to contaminate the whole concept. I'm not only disappointed in the failure of this build but also in the words and actions of those directly responsible for its failure. If, and I mean IF, Bill's gesture was less than genuine, that would have become apparent to all without the "town crier" mentality displayed. Whatever your opinion of Bill, shame on you for ruining this for ALL OF US. I hope you're satisfied, I won't back this concept again.

The irony is that I was JUST about to call Jim to go and pick up the coupe. Literally 3 minutes earlier I was talking with Terry (Metalman) about the timing of delivery and Rich (who was in the throws of organising and putting together a non profit organisation to hold the coupe) and I was just making a coffee to ring Jim (TrulyVintage - the transport guy who Killed The H.A.M.B. Coupe) when he decided to get out his machine guns and turn them against us.

Anyone, who read the whole thread knew that I was not trying to or doing anything wrong but was trying to do something right, fun, huge and awesome. The blame for killing this project rests squarely on the shoulders of Jim (trulyvintage). He attacked me for NO good reason at all.

I am receiving just as much hate mail about jim - [trulyvintage] and ryan as I am support for what I was trying to do for us all. For the support (you know who you all are) - thanks. I appreciate it.

I've packed up my things and moved on but for the record (and so we're all completely straight on the facts); I had no intentions of doing anything other than donating thousands of dollars of gear to help get a hamb coupe started. I had no other motive (unless you call wanting to hang out with cool people a motive).

If you are looking to blame someone I hope you chose the right target and don't act like Jim [trulyvintage] and come on here all drunk and waving machine guns at YOUR OWN troops.

Jim, [trulyvintage] you ought to be thoroughly ashamed of yourself. You have not only damaged my reputation but also the hamb's reputation and of course destroyed yours in the process.

    Nice move.

I'll be banned on here for that comment but hopefully a few of you will read it before it's removed. Thanks for all the support. As a parting word please try to remember the good feelings we all had with this project and how we all (except for Jim [trulyvintage]) had a really good feeling about this and where it could go.

I'll leave you all to it. Good luck with your cars.
