I thought I would pass along a story of how one old jalopy can bring a lot of fun and enjoyment to many people across ages and state lines. Last year I purchased the "Grey Ghost" from a fellow HAMBer, Povertyflats, who had also bought it from another HAMBer, Rustyrods. Something about the old highly modified '31 Model A was just attractive to me and I couldn't pass it up. I am pretty sure everyone who has owned the "Grey Ghost" has done something to it to make it theirs, including myself. Somehow, it all seems to work together as a collective work of art? Most recently my son, chose to take his date to prom in the Grey Ghost. With some practice contortion exercises, braking, and shifting lessons he was ready. His date had to practice hopping over the hot side pipe to avoid melting her dress. It was a promenade favorite. I guess it just shows you are never too old for a H.S. prom. Enjoy the pictures.
A good woman will even get dressed up for a formal prom and step into a unfinished rusty old car to be with you. You have a good woman there. Keep her! Cool car by the way. I like it.
I just love the idea of my old jalopy going to the prom! I am very proud of your son for his willingness to enjoy the night with that vehicle. the girl looks very cute too. so cool!
nice- i hope my daughter wants to take my speedster to prom in 16 1/2 years! She will be the one driving though! She already tries to kick anyone that sits in the passenger seat and she starts to cry if I put her in the driver seat and then take her back out. A real daddy's girl! That is too cool though!
There was once a time when showing up to your date's house in a hot rod didn't go over well!!! Cool pics!! I didn't go to my prom, but I went to my wife's. I had a h/c/i/nitrous 5.0 mustang at the time, but that wasn't going to cut it, so I drove my dad's 59 'vette. Needless to say which girl showed up in the best ride.
My son drove his 57 BelAir post car to his prom. Big night, big hit! Love it when kids show up at school related events in old cars.
