    Hello,

The sales of the slant 6 motor, which was unusual was a selling point for the Plymouth Valiant. The smaller compact cars were a part of most factories and Plymouth needed something to compete with the others.

The look of the 4 door wagon was ok, but all surfboards would have to be put on top. The compact was just that, a compact. But, to be competitive, a little extra would have been nice to go along with the slant 6 motor. It just called for a two door station wagon for smooth lines and styling.

    Jnaki

The above drawing was with the tall greenhouse style of the original Valiant 4 door model. But, despite the better 2 door styling, it looked as if it needed something else.

A different chopped top version from the factory would have fit the proverbial styling cue, as if Goldilocks said it to be “just right.” YRMV

    Note:

The final modification would have pushed the Valiant Model from a 4 door family station wagon to a sporty 2 door Nomad Style Wagon to an El Camino version, for all customers in the smaller compact model choices. The sales would have gone through the roof… YRMV

...Nice one Ron, a chopped, shortened customized El Camino or is it a Ponchomino...close enough...this series of inspirations I did below were created after a suggestion by @41 GMC K-18 to take the literal Hotrod version and quite modded at that he shared and do some complimentary mods to it's likeness...

Here's a couple including it's original all business warrior look...

The tiny image is the original...you know many times inspirations involve landscaping, house mods and other detailing in addition to the vehicle itself...to achieve a period correct feel...all good...:)

....mmmmm...lots of chop chop in this one...but what a Kool Kamino it would be eh!

Wasn't Nader after this Cars wings? To heck with him, being a 60 I extended them like the 59...and hey, thousands still are flying down the freeways of NA...;)

Happy Friday on a Saturday All

    Let's keep it going...chop chop...;)

...Many aren't fond of Customs, but me, I'm glad the Hamb represents both Hotrod and Custom...they truly feed off one another...I truly do these Inspirations for those with the projects at hand but also to surround me with a virtual garage of greatness...Chop Chop...;)

...This Inspiration was inspired by the work of an brilliant Automotive Artist that worked for GM by the name of Peter Wozena...

    Pete Wozena, American, 1918–2006

I sometimes step into the shoes of others if I see an opportunity to see a concept that didn't ever see the light of day...As Jnaki did, I saw a potential for a spinoff to another very successful GM product, the El Camino...I quite like it and would applaud anyone to craft one from a 4dr hrtp as this was...

The Boards would look pretty good sticking out the back of the bed on this rocket ship eh J!!

I don't know about you fellas but an exhibit of these great Artists works that rarely get mentioned in the world of Mona Lisa's and Picasso's would be quite the bucket list item in my opinion...
