The El Matador Grille

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by MannyK, Aug 1, 2013.

  1. I am designing a very wild custom 40 Ford. I want a horizontal grille kind of like like the El Matador. But I was wondering how the horizontal grille fit in the front of a 40 Ford. Originally the 40 has a skinny grille, so how does the horizontal one fit there?

  2. Oh... i just realized it may be a whole diffrent front end. Is that what it is?

  3. He just trimmed the fenders out to fit the new grille opening.

  4. yeah i was thinking that. Im sorry that that may have been a stupid question...

This might give you some idea of how the grille surround was extended.

Not sure if this is what you mean, or if you are kidding or what.

He started with a 40 Ford coupe, the rest was made by hand. Cutting, forming, welding. He said in an interview that there was a junkyard down the street where the owner trusted him, he would take parts back to his shop and try them out, if they would work for what he wanted to do, he would use them, if not, take them back and try something else.
