Lou Moore was somewhat the Roger Penske of the 40s-early 50s at Indy. Here's his 1950 stable-

That's super, love the work in every Indy car I got to see in photos or my self. On this one,the bigger louver's just below the hood opening, must of been with a custom for that spot only die. It's not on a flat,so die had to be made for the shape only.
Amazing car. That looked like speed and was.

This car is so beautiful, the body is just amazing. I have loved sprint car racing for years as they followed this body style right perfect. This car is so beautiful, I have studied the photos a bunch. Thanx for sharing!

Crude by 2020 standards but got the job done back in the day.

Use to drool over this beaut when it sat in the basement of the Chicago Science & Industry Museum during the 1970s . I tried to buy it but Bucky Boudeman out bid me , after he passed his estate had it for sale for $1,000,000. It was sold but I don't know price .

I remember the car at the Museum of Science and Industry as well. It was nice to see it revived and
"racing" at the Miller Meet in Milwaukee in recent years. Such an important piece of American racing history.

Does anyone know if a 34 Ford truck was painted to match the blue crown special at anytime?

  16. What a car! Thanks for the feature and the vintage film coverage.
