The side trim and flared skirts finish this one off perfectly!

Did your 53 teeth need to be modified to fit. I did a 54 with 11 teeth and the ones closest to the parking lights had to be trimmed

    This Merc is a peach!
The striping must certainly be by Tommy the Greek.

    Note the V-butted windshield.

    Thanks. Original post edited.
Here is an interior shot of Dawn Smith's Merc, from Kustomrama.
Car had a flip-down gauge panel beneath the pleated dash...pretty wild for its time!

    Hello,

My wife has her own tastes in just about everything…since back in the beginning, 50+ years ago. That is for sure… Her eye for cool hot rods and trucks has been developing since we used to cruise and travel in our red 40 Ford Sedan Delivery, all up and down the So Cal coastline. But, hey, we were 20 somethings with the whole world ahead of us…what did we know back then? Fun, fun, fun…etc… that’s what. But, she thought I would like the photos she took on this hot, 4 hour adventure of hers.

Recently, we have been seeing more hot rods, customs, and trucks driving around where ever we go. This multi faceted Ford Pick Up had just enough mods to make it a mild custom. It was on display along with several other hot rods to appease the husbands/dads while their significant others were taking in a long, walking home tour of updated, period correct, 40s/50s homes in central Orange County.

While the emphasis is on roadsters, coupes, and sedans, we have seen more custom/hot rod trucks on the road recently. A bright blue, lowered 56 Ford pickup, a light colored GMC pick up, a dark colored, old Chevy panel van and lowered 55 Chevy pick up that barely made it across a deep, rutted intersection.

They were all individual hot rodders showcasing their daily drivers on the So Cal roads and highways. Their philosophy was: “To each his own.”
