yep thats kinda on the same lines of what im going to do. its a dang shame you have to beat and cut and weld a new deck lid. if i would have known i was going to have to rebuild it. i would have just made one from scratch. probably less work

Your work is amazing. The level of detail and your level of ingenuity. I is quite awe inspiring but it leaves me with one question, any updates?

well its been two steps forward then take one back for me lately.i shortend the torque tube and drive shaft this weekend. [IMG] [IMG] i used a ring compressor to get a straight line all the way around then made my marks and cut [IMG] then made a jig to hold it straight and welded her up. [IMG]

  9. I get that way, just come back to it, one piece at a time bro, don't let it get you down.lol there will be other things. I'm in the same boat.

then the drive shaft [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] then i cut a piece of steele and drilled a big hole in one side so i could keep it straight and weld it. then after i welded it i made a sleeve to go over that spot and welded the sleeve [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

after all the work on the rear end i realized one critical thing i did not take into account. that is that the drive shaft i shortened come out of a 46 rear end and i have a 36. yep you guessed it!!! its has different splines. so i will be shortening another shaft. what the heck i guess i just needed the practice!!!!!

Just got done reading through your thread.
Wish I had the balls to shorten a driveshaft. Have you done that before?
Great job man! Tons of great ideas.
