Chris, Brian (Bass) told me about this project of yours on the weekend, I missed it on here...till now!! Your pics are like flashbacks, I did my 'c' pillars the same way, it' was the only way I could find to keep the flow. Looking forward to it's progress, keep up the good work! -Dave

  20. Wish I had 1/10th your skill. LOVED/LOVE your coupe..... now this. Only 1 question. How's the head room? Unless you're built like a yard gnome, it looks like it might be tight. (Even without the hat! :D )

First of all, thanks for the kind words, everybody.

The chop is done, except for the garnish moldings, stainless trim, glass etc.

I was kind of winging it, on this one, I'm used to square early 30's cars, this is my first "round" car.
BTW: Someone asked how much I took out the A pillars, I took 5" out, which translates to a 4" chop on the driver door, if that makes sense, I wanted the top and the bottom of the door openings parallel.

The rear windows will be functional, and I will build a new track system for the glass and turn the regulators to the right degree, since the rear glass will slide on an angle parallel to the slanted B pillars, sounds complicated, but really is not. Pictures will follow.

Here are some pics in it's current state, 08/11/2010.

Dude, is that a mini skateboard ramp or that to get in and out of your shop? Oh! and Chris, the chop looks awesome and nice work!!!! Hope to see it in person down the road.

  29. Wow Chris, that looks great! I love your idea with the buck for forming the B-pillar areas.
Funny, we chatted about you picking up that car in Santa Maria, and you were just make a "Simple Driver" out of it. ha ha ha.

Any chance we'll see you on the salt this weekend???
