    Very cool man. Very cool.

  7. There's far too many poorly chopped '49-'51 Fords out there ... but I can say without a doubt that the "Cris Casney Chopt Shubox" is not one of them ... well done Chris!

Here is a profile shot, it flows real nice, I think. The B pillars will be slanted.
Progress is somewhat slow, I have "actual" work to do, not just "fun" work.

Bitchin profile Chris.....I like how you left the roof in the rear with a flow.....instead of over sloped and flat. $.02

Chris your work looks outstanding. Nice to see a shoebox chop that doesn't go downhill. Can't wait to see the B pillars in it. Looking forward to future updates.

BTW Your signature line couldn't be more wrong.

It really has a great look. So many nowadays have that "I got into customs in 1999" look. LOL

Great work, Chris! Glad you decided to chop this car... to me, the '49/'50 shoebox sedans just don't look right without a chop, Especially done as tastefully as you've done.

    Keep it up!!

  20. Looks amazing! Mix a little base-coat that near matches the body for the bare metal areas, and rock that for a while

    A little update.
I'm starting to feel better, about the project, since it actually looks like a car again.
Alot of people were telling me, that shoeboxes are hard to chop, now I know why, because the damn roof is so small and all the pillars etc are tapered, so everything has to be angled/pie cut, bent in bent out, and to make it all look good.
So, no walk in the park, but I feel I'm going in the right direction.

Also, leaning the B-pillars is a job and a half, straight B-pillars or hardtopping would have been easier, but I'm not into easy, or that look.

A problem I encountered putting the B pillars in, was that there are alot of round sections, that I didnt have, unlike the C-pillar, rear window curve that I simply pie cut and re-used.

I had to come up with a "caveman" style method to make those pieces.

I used some wood and cut out the two diameters that I needed for the job, I rounded the edges with a router (roundover bit), cut my sheetmetal to the appropriate size (oversized) and started hammering the pieces with a downward stroke, to get the desired shape, that could later be cut and used, the get nice flowing window openings. The pieces, were the stainless trim sit's on will be added later.

    The wood "buck"

Some ugly unground welds, don't look.

We have something in common......I caveman everything I have. the corners of my roof I rolled on my oxygen tank. Looks sweet Chris.

  23. The side view shows a slight wedge shape to it,that's more noticable, now that the door tops are on. Looks really nice. Your corners are coming out good too...

Love the look and flow....also love the fact that your solving your problems using your own knowledge and applying it to something else...wood to metal....cool

Chris, whoever you are, This thing really looks great. The radiuses that yoyu made just add to the creaminess of it all. What a roof!

Chris, You have a real nice flow going for your chop. I didn't mess with the "B" pillars on my '41 and kind of regret it.

Wonderful work, you have a great eye, probably the most important part of a job like this.

  28. If this car turns out anything like the last project, it's going to blow minds straight of people's skulls. Looks awesome so far!!!
