Great chop job boys
The chop looks great.
I would like to attend one of your classes/demonstrations is there some way to let people know that there is going to be a class somewhere BEFORE the class?
Mmmmm... Mmellllteeey! I think the best chops are the ones that look like they could have been the original design before the production geeks got a hold of it... proportion is everything. Like yours!
Damn, I'm corrupted by this thing. Not a GM guy but, I want one now, well with a chop and looking exactly like this!
Thank you! Hopefully I'll have updates in the future!
Thank you very much! I'm glad ya dig it!
Keep an eye on the "Chop Class with Joel Davis" page on Facebook. I'll have another class at my shop in Canon City next spring or fall. Send me a PM for more info. Thanks!
I agree!! Thank you!!
Here are some photos of it rolled outside for your enjoyment! Clay has been working on it and gathering parts for it. There's a good chance this car will be completed!
always wanted to chop a top but never did it. ended up doing lots of rust repairs when I really wanted to do custom stuff. now that I am an old fart I am done with all of it.
Your Threads are always a treat...great work @Pinstriper40...
Rust repairs? In CA?
Thank you! I hope to have the opportunity to continue working on this car here and there...
Hammered...nice wheel chock...
Dang, that looks fantastic Joel! Missed this thread, but glad I ran into it. That trunk lid is right on the money. Nice combo of sectioning the deck lid and lowering the lower lip. Well done!
What a great example to chop. GM had there draftsman working in the right direction. The Sedanett. In my opinion is my favorite..
I'm looking to schedule a couple chop classes for late spring of 2023... If you've got a 2 door post car that you'd like chopped, please send me a PM!
Clay has been hard at work making this Olds Melty! I'm hard at work scheduling new chop classes and coming up with some merch ideas... Stay tuned for your Mr. Melty merchandise!
Looks just right.
Thank you both very much! I've got another chop class coming up in Kansas! See the link below!
Well thank you very much!!! Just when I decide to sell my ‘47 Buick Sedanette you show this! Do you know how long it took for me to decide to sell? All to be undone by checking out your fantastic work...Ugh! LOL
I did not chop this Chrysler...Does anyone know who did..its was done west of Texas,,,any leads appreciated....
Better buy it back!! I want to chop another one!
No idea, maybe someone will see it and recognize it. I like the chop on it though!
I met @Pinstriper40 after his class at Rustoberfest in Missouri. Not only did he give me a bitchin price for striping my dash on my 51 chevy gasser, he did the passenger side right-handed and the driver's side with his left. Looks the same and I was amazed! The picture was before he switched hands....
Love the project, I think Gene Winfield would approve. As to the Chrysler it’s possible that Murphos customs in Austin could have been responsible.
This car has been for sale on the hamb for some time.I,m sure he would be glad to tell you.
Thank you very much!
Gotta pull out the bag of tricks and wow the crowd sometimes! Not that there was much of a crowd! LOL
I think he'd approve as well! I always tell people, I'm ok with trophies and accolades, but a nod of approval from an old timer builder is the best!
I don't know if it's the chop not, but the rear fenders/quarters look huge. And I like it. Great work.
They look more proportional from a full on side shot... But it'll have to get rolled outside again for that. But they definitely do look bigger and sexier!
"So, what do you like to do at home?"
"I like to melt stuff."
"Oh, is it like art?"
"Yeah, you can melt art."
If you're interested in learning how to chop a fleetlines/sedanette, I'll be doing another class on a '50 Buick in Tucson March 3rd-5th 2023! Click on the link below for more info!
Will the square stock armature in the rear window be removed at some point? Why was it necessary?
