I have to agree verd The bottom hanging out there doesn't look good. Sorry Graham but look at Tweedy Pie and you will understand.

I don't know about that fellas, I cut an inch and a half out of mine and then shortened and retained the bottom to cover my front crossmember a little and hide the U bolts that hold the spring a little as well.
I think it looks good combined with my SS mesh screen and headlight bar. :)

Don't forget that I also have the MT products Lincoln front drum brakes now in place of the discs

Not TOO bad, But if it gets chromed, IT will light up !!!!? IMO

  7. You can only loose the bottom if you have a spring out front to hide it. JMO. JW

I think that with enough thought, either leaving the bottom off the cut down shell or splicing it back on can look good, as we've seen good examples of both. I do agree that Tweedy Pie would have looked better with the bottom left off - it looks awkward from the front.

Random question time: anyone on here have a receiver hitch on their bucket (or pictures of one)? I've got a bad crush on teardrop trailers lately... I have two ideas so far- one bad one, and one maybe. I'd like to see pics if one of you has already gone through that battle.

It will not be chromed, it will be body color.

Just a couple of guys opinion and you know that THEY say about opinions and ass holes. If you are sure you like the look, or don't care, it is your rod. Again I say get back and look, and look, and look if you do care. I'm still doing that after 36 years and still things on my roadster bug me.

My car is oranges to your apples, but my hitch is one of my favorite details on my car, and this is a chance to show it off.[IMG][IMG]

How is it attached to your frame? Bolted? Welded? Pictures? Your stealth setup looks great. Nice job!

Thanks! Years ago, we had a Chevy Venture which I added a hitch to. While the roadster was under construction, the van died. Before it went to the wrecking yard, I pulled the hitch off of it. That hitch got cut up to fit this car. Two "stubs" are welded to the Model A rear crossmember, then the cut up hitch is installed to them. I found a flat 4 plug with a rubber flange around it (it has a Ford logo on it, maybe off a truck?) which I mounted into a piece of aluminum sheet, then mounted to the hitch.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

However, I'm interested in the progress on your car, too.

It's just a few more pieces to complete my chassis. Brake/master cylinder assembly, engine mounts for the frame, steering box mount and transmission mount/cross member.

The trans/cross member has another piece which mounts the trans and attaches to this piece. Note the holes, which allow any number of different transmissions to be used.

    Beautifully TIG welded.

    Nope, Tig.

  25. Needs practice then. But, I am used to being around some of the best welds you can find so I am jaded.

  26. Looks good Graham, but I liked it before as well.:) JW
