Saw it when you posted it a few years back...mowing your carpet?, "you ain't right" ..but maybe I will give that a try...
i have about 10-15 antique lawn mowers. some really unique, some maybe scrap iron, they all must go away, free for the taking. i dont dare say free on craigslist or just the scrap guys will call. any takers here?
That is so friggin' Moriarity I can't believe it! Big Daddy would totally dig it. Dutch would hate it. Perfect. I am a firm believer and preacher that hot rodders can--and do--hot rod anything. [Hot Rod magazine is totally clueless on this topic, as they are on most everything pertaining to actual hot rodding at this point.] But you understand it perfectly Mark. What's next? Can't wait. Cheers, Pat Ganahl
This is an old Hamb favorite of mine and it still is...The Jetsons meet the lawn. An interesting restoration to a vintage blast from the past.
ok, i aint got all day to dilly dally around taking pics of free lawn mowers, but heres a couple i like. on the left, a cool art deco cast aluminum model with swoopy fenders like 33ish cars. it uses sickle bar blades on a disk to cut. it gets power from a ford generator motor. you set your car battery in the square hole, mow for a while, and put the battery back in the model A and crank start to charge it up again. unless you had one of those cool wind powered chargers. on the right, is another one that uses sickle bar blades, note you can see it sticking out the front...watch your feet!!! theres a couple reo reel mowers, a few other odd ones, and yes some are scrap. they used to have a nice home in a single garage, but that building came down to build a new shop, and they have been out for 4 years. i have tried to give them to our local steam and gas engine tractor show guys, but no luck. if you are close by, come get em. grandson toys?
{ Mark }I really like your cool show stopping mower! My mowers are just for cutting my grass. But I still have some fun with them. I found a used Corvette go kart body at the Carlisle swap meet. I put it on my old John Deere, ta make a gasser. I still need to mount the deck, paint and detail it. Also here's my Blown Ariens too. lol Ron...
Electric yard machines and the blade design is something that most including myself would associate with newer times wrongo Stogy...
I sure hope somebody takes you up on your offer and grabs some of those. If I were closer I'd be all over that cast aluminum one, that is just a neat piece!
Mark, now you need a Flymow. Have you ever seen one, they have no wheels, the blade is like a propeller and floats the mower above the grass it is cutting.
When the Moriarty Mower first appeared on here, it took me DAYS to get words in order in my head! I finally did it, and several years later my opinion remains the same! "HAMBers must own a thousand deuce roadsters, dozens of really-were-there dry lakes cars, record setting tanks, 1940's sprint cars, World War One fighters, and Lord knows what else. Then we find out that the coolest vehicle on the whole damn board is a LAWNMOWER. It really is. Reality is strange stuff. Bruce"
