In the 4th picture you have Ed Hill's early dragster. Pretty cool.

I assumed Alton was a town/city in TX...

Could it be Alton Dragway in Illinois?

He's the kid who lied to his dad to get the '57 for the afternoon. Still on the run.

Yeah, those photos were definitely from Texas... I think there is a city in Texas named Alton though... I didn't think of that. I have no idea where I got these.

  16. I’m no help, but sure appreciate the pictures. I don’t think any of those were being driven to work on Monday morning.

Pretty sure that’s a Pontiac, not SBC.

That '34 PU with the Hemi is one bad ass looking rig! I also like the candid shot of the 2 ladies strolling thru the parking lot. Lets ya know how old the photographer was. I almost missed the 1 year old customized '59 Chev convert behind the gals. Cool stuff.

Great stuff going on then. Interesting to me that things go much faster now, but this to me is better.

I think this is our answer. I sure wish I remembered where I got these. It must have been years ago. I have been really serious about my archive's organization for probably ten years now.... and these were just haphazardly placed in my personal directory where normally I only place photos that I have taken myself.

Really awesome pictures. This one caught my eye because of the chromed up and lettered push truck and the I realized who I was seeing:

a Garlits family outing with the black and white Carryall pushing the "then" version of Swamp Rat 1B. If you zoom you can just make out the "Here Comes Trouble" lettered above the GMC grille.

My Dad had a Chevy like the one next to the '57. Drove it to California and back in '64. Kind of a green color, 6 cyl/3-speed on the column. Being in Maine, it got pretty rusty; he made some plywood floorboards so I wouldn't fall through. He sold it to a coworker who drove it a few more years before it rusted/wore out.
