i have a 1965 ford f100 and the alternator light will never die! when the key is out and the motor is off the alternator light is still on. The only way for the light to go off is when I disconnect the battery cables. the connection to the regulator is live. what else can it be? where does the wire come from that goes to this light?
Its probably a ground for the guages .One of my cars was always lit until I grounded out the housing on the guages.Had 0 starting or drain problem.
Can you please clarify, light on, key off, engine on? What's wrong with that picture? How the hell can the engine be on (running), with the key off? All I can say is if the ignition wire is hot (and engine NOT running) with the key off, then you have a bad ignition switch. I guess this is what you mean.
