    The differences in the two iterations of Pure Hell - SBC vs hemi - are stark. Buggy spring vs coilovers, weight bar on the hemi front end, injector / blower size, etc. The more I see of these old racers the more I admire them and realize how easy we racers have it now due in part to all the experimentation that preceded us.

    The A/CA2 (purpleish) car above...

    Am I not seeing something..? I only see one small tube (1-5/8" or 1-3/4") tube as THE frame rail..?
    The engine is well supported, but ahead of the firewall doesn't seem to be very well supported.
    Everything is bolted to that one single tube. And no, the triangular engine mount isn't much of a "frame" support.

    Now that you pointed that out, it reminds me of Eddie Hills experiment where the engine is not just supported but
    becomes a big part of the total chassis rigidity
