  1. Hey folks - just a reminder that we are quickly coming up on the 5th Annual Bayou Round Up in Lafayette, Louisiana October 18 & 19th - details, schedule and registration info is all at http://www.bayouroundup.com

A lot of you have come to our show in Austin in the Springtime - but if you haven't checked out our Fall show in Lafayette - you really should join us for a super fun and more intimate show in a really special place.

The scenery, live music and food (oh man, THE FOOD) is just stellar - and the people are really great. We do a great cruise around the back roads on Friday - last year we followed the Bayou Teche to see the sights and stop for some great plate lunch action and relaxed at Bayou Teche Brewing for some cold beer. That night we cruise back into town where we close off downtown and have special parking all around Parc San Souci and a big Downtown Alive! concert - this year featuring Zydeco Radio and The South Austin Moonlighters.

Saturday is the big day out at Historic Blackham Coliseum - and it is a really perfect vintage backdrop for all the cars - its like the old days when you are there. The stage outside is going all day with a fantastic lineup - this year we have:

New Natives Brass Band - Lafayette's own New Orleans Style Second Line Brass band kicking things off

Rod Melancon - Vermillion Parish native plays greasy, gothic Americana - Imagine Nick Cave meets John Cougar where the prairies meet the marsh.

And the big headlining event - BUCK-A-ROUX II - An Allstar tribute to Lafayette's own guitar king Paul "Lil' Buck" Sinegal
His longtime musical sweetheart and “Gulf Coast Empress” Ms. Barbara Lynn (”If You Lose Me - You'll Lose A Good Thing”) will be featured along with the “King of Slydeco” and fellow Clifton Chenier band alumni Sonny Landreth. Buck-a-Roux II (an encore of a tribute in Austin, TX) will be co-hosted and musically directed by Lil’ Buck's longtime bandmates and “musical sons” CC Adcock and Sir Reginald Dural. Our Bayou Round Up stage at Blackham Coliseum will be set for fireworks from the very best of Lil’ Buck's friends, family and contemporaries to serve up a whole mess of soul-stirring blues and boogie as a final send-off for one of the greatest, world-class and stylistically unique artists that this region has ever produced.

So make your plans to join us! Its gonna be a party down on the bayou you won't wanna miss -

We are putting the finishing touches on everything for the show. I can't wait to get on the road and head to Louisiana. It's a great show with a lot of great cars with the incredible backdrop of historic Blackham Coliseum. If you are leaving from Austin or you want to come to Austin and leave with us on Thursday morning Oct 17th. It's a great run from Austin with a great stop in Houston at a friend's shop for lunch and then we're in Lafayette usually by about 6 or 7 p.m. Thursday night.

Few of us from Houston are making the run out there and my first time to make it. Friendly reminder i-10 east of houston is shut down and will not be open for probably 6 months to a year. the bypass around this, is hwy 90 from houston to beaumont, its also some cool scenery of small town america of times forgotten. The other alternative if you are pressed for time. Take 610 loop to hwy 225 east, go down to 146 and head north to baytown and hop back on i-10, but with all the traffic re routed that way its probably going to be faster on hwy 90....

Three of us are leaving from South Florida about 5am Thursday morning. Unfortunately, we are coming in a daily driver as none of us has a car on the road even though we had hoped to have them finished by now.
