  4. A mate of mine bought a stock fordson 10/10 van (fairly similar to a Thames) off a farm a couple of months ago. As soon as I saw it I had thoughts about gasserizing it. Until I saw the completely rotted wooden structure, oh well probably better I didn't buy it.

    I don't think I ever saw one that wasn't a gasser.

Did Anglia build panel trucks or was it just Thames?

I love Thames Panel truck gassers. Would love to build one... would love to win the lottery too (sigh)

  8. I think just Thames they were like the GMC of the Anglia world at one time. Actually they were still building the Thames Freighter into the '60s. I have a distinct affection for the '59 myself, it looks a little like a cross between a van and a tractor with a Louisville cab. :D

OK off on a tangent sorry, getting back to it I think that the panels were all Thames and not Anglias.

Anglias were a product of Ford (England) and the various panel truck models were called Thames (Timz), just like 4 door Anglias were called a Prefect.
Dean Kirsten was doing a newsletter called EnFo and has a website called Anglia Obsolete.

Wasn't there a flathead powered Thames that participated in the Winternationals in Pomona around '61-63 called Willy's Pie Wagon? I have a vague recollection....... Anybody got a picture?

All of the photos so far a of the 1/4 ton version...Below is our little Thames which is the 1/2 ton. We were about to dive in on this project for Dad but snagged him another rod that we could get on the road quicker. But it is still on our bucket list to get this one "Gasserized" one day!
