    Hey All,
Th350, approx '84, leaking from speedo cable. Replaced "O" ring & still leaking pretty well. What else can be done?

  2. I went to the parts house and found a fatter "O" ring and used it on the 350 and it doesn't leak anymore. HRP

The sleeve that the gear rides in could be worn out, if it's the pot metal version. The seal inside the sleeve could be worn out. The driven gear could be worn out where the seal rides on it, or even where it rides in the sleeve.

On the seal that goes on the driven speedo gear you can double them up on some of the gear holders.

  6. These usually have a small leak between the driven gear and the driven gear housing. Other than the O-ring, there isn't anything else to keep fluid from leaking out. I doubled the O-ring in one I had once and that seems to work. The O-ring wouldn't bind up due to the trans fluid keeping it lubricated.
