Bear with me, I'm having trouble posting pics.
I dunno , looks like you're posting a pretty nice chevy!.....Whats the problem?
Looks fine from here.
Groucho, Thought you might enjoy seeing this poster. I've owned it for almost 50 years!
Are you in that picture?
Bear with ME. I'M having trouble that Stovebolt's not in front of MY house!
Looks like your avatar has changed, can we have another rear view? Bob
Looks like you figured it out. Nice car.
Working up here!
A friend of mine had a 38 Chevy coupe (street car) in the late 60's, sat just like that.
Had a 327/4speed, big/little Cragars, dark green paint, was in the Portland Roadster Show.
I've been a big fan of the 37 and 38's ever since.
Coming through High, Wide and Handsome in Indiana.
A stranger had an old black '38 Chevy coupe on South 1st in San Jose (The 'Main') one night. Pulled up on my left side, I was in the center lane. (my candy blue '26 T full fendered sedan on 'A' rails, 7/16" X 3/8" flattie, Potvin cam, 4 97s, everything worked)
Light turned green, the Moon pedal went to the floor, I popped the 'sticker', my T jumped across the intersection, 4.44 rear said, "Shift!" and I did, just as this old Stove went, "Zzooom!" right past, THEN he shifts...I know it was a '38, got a GOOD look at his taillights!
He didn't even 'speed-shift', when he did, he just got another big puff of fresh air and was fairly...gone. I levelled off, and shifted into high...(High as I got, crap!)
He pulled over in front of Hambone's, and I caught up and stopped also...Talked a little, I wasn't used to getting beat...at least, not in 2 or 3 block sorties...
Lifted the hood and I'm looking at an old SIX! With that old GMC valve cover, like on the old trucks we worked on at the shop...Old 6, but on the street side...five carburetors!
So, let's see: I've got 8 cylinders, and four 97s. He's got a six, and five 97s.
Logic would have said I needed MORE CARBURETORS!
But I knew better...
My clock had been cleaned, by pure torque. I can still hear that roar, 'Zzoooom!'
The only thing I don't like about it is it's not in my garage. HRP
back up for Groucho.
Cool car, fun story, Mike.
Bear with me.
Nice 38, my favorite of the 2 years but I'd take a 37 if it presented itself.
I can't see it now. It's all the way up top and I'm giving a BS reply so that might be it
Cool coupe, now you have to tell us about it.
LMAO, thanks guys. My puter gliched, and since it did, it takes a different route for me to post pics.
"If it presented itself."
I would settle for your avatar if it "presented itself"...................................
Welcome back; you've really got to watch your back on that, "drag racing", site. I won't mention the name, but it's the same color as urine, what they call cowards, and was the name of that "X"-Hands tribe in the movie, Horse. We've got your back!
I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Dunno Groucho, pics of '38 Chevies makes me struggle... I much prefer '37
Good to see you back!
TEST ! Nobody told me there would be a test ........ photo looks good .
Ouch, reminds of a first race...and seeing the '37's tailights!
