  5. I'm in agreement. Distributor is traditional. Dizzy?? I'm not sure what to make of that. Makes a persons engine sound effeminate.

Wickerbill = Gurney flap. Kick up on the rear of a spoiler or wing.

I've always understood the third member or "pumpkin" to be a "chunk", not chuck. A "chuck" is what all the black guys on my ship called us whities. We called them "splibs". Have no idea where that shit came from, but back then it wouldn't get you killed. 1968-1970

Well, you're dead on your back, your tits up. I've known this saying for near 70 years.
The slopes seemed to be found tits up most of the time.

  11. In high school, "fog 'em off" meant do a burnout. Then you'd be grabbin' gears getting out of there.

    Peel out. (burn rubber)
Peel off. (leave, go off on your own.)
My 36 Chev wouldn't peel out, but there was the smell of burning rubber in the back seat on a few Friday nights. If you know what I mean.:p

..........Since I don't know how to weld.......
This is a cool thread that I can contribute to. :) .........(I'm not going to let it die just yet.)

A "cream puff" was a trade-in, or a very well maintained older car, just begging to be "souped up", "hot rodded", "cranked up" like a young coyote ready to cover the town and mark every rock with fresh, high octane, piss bladder hormones.

I heard this a few times from some "ol' timers"........... A really nice old car was "a real Darb!" ("a real beaut" was more common). I'm not sure where the "Darb" comes from, but it's older than me me and I'm ticklin' the mid 70's.

So...... when you guys are talking about "needing some trim", you're not talking about getting a piece of ass? I'll be damned.

I've always called the removable center section of an axle a 3rd member but what are the 1st and 2nd members?

    Right axle and left axle.

  20. Early this morning I was out with the Missus in our new OT vehicle cruising a deserted stretch of the I95 EZ Pass lanes.

As I accelerated from 75 to 120mph she yelled, "Man, this thing books!"

I had to laugh out loud because I haven't heard that expression used to describe speed since the seventies...

"He was bookin' or "He booked on outta' there...."

I've been laying around for a couple of weeks with a bad back and have been rereading some old magazines, etc, and I came across this"Hot Rod Dictionary" in the December, 1952 issue of Popular Science magazine and thought somebody might enjoy reading it. I copied it (as best I can, while relying on my cane for balance), so here it is and I hope it's readable:

Thanks for that @TagMan. I learned some new terms. I like the definition of "bald" Haha.
Interesting how terms change, because I think of something different when I hear "bomb".

I still live in the old-'murica, as I reject what is going on culturally now, so if that offends anyone, I'm just an example of my times, get over it.
