yeah, the welding is tedious enough, but then i gotta go back and grind it all,,,,,,,the end result will be worth all the work though,,,

Wow, I really like the new side profile.... not sure about the front end yet, but I'm sure your magic hands will make it looks killer in the end :)

I hate to say it, but I think the whole car needs to be un-sectioned behind the rear door jamb....maybe 3 inches (or section the front 3 more inches?).

I think the elevation change from the top of the fenders to the start of the fins is what is making the door shape so awkward. The car has a lot or truely awe inspiring work, but the whole package isn't quite there.

  6. I can't really tell in the pics but it looks like the coves are just moved in? did you consider swapping the sheet metal side from side so that it is concave?

the car had a good running 302 in it when i bought it,,,i'd MUCH prefer a nailhead, olds rocket, or caddy engine, but unfortunately my budget does not allow for that right now, , maybe sometime in the future,,,,im very strict as far as keeping the whole build period correct, but its the one consession i'll have to make,,,,the hood will never be open anyway,,its a kustom :D

Jim, Love the last comment ! "the hood will never be open anyway,,its a kustom :D" My thoughts exactly . I am not seeing the need for the resection in the car. Probably because I couldn't handle that amount of work ! Just do what you need to do.

the car doesn't need any more sectioning, , ,just the nose lowered slightly as in this photoshop by Rickster

Speedway sells the nice looking finned valve covers that go all the way throught the valve cover and have no names on them. Thanks again Jim for the grille

When the car becomes an icon ...I can at least say that it once sat in my driveway.

It's funny you posted that. I was going to suggest throwing a pic of it when he started so those who may not have followed along could see just where it all began..
    Pretty wild i'd say :)

You and everyone else that ever owned a shoebox! You'd better get over there and sign something underneath it all so the guy restoring this beast in 75 years finds it!!

    I love it all!
I've been waiting for the cove, and am surprised (NOT disappointed) that you didn't swap panels side, for side for a concave effect (what I expected). Was that not the original intention?

'mo,,,,i did try that, but im planning on putting some textured metal or expanded metal in there, so the effect of the concaveness (is that a word?) would be kinda lost..
