yes as you guys mentioned , its cob webbing, I've messed around a little bit with it, but it is really hard, when you don't know what your doing, to do with the newer paints. there is different techniques out there that people use with todays products, if your serious about it, ask finkd, aka, Jeff Myers, he did some killer panels with cob webbing on travisfromkansas galaxie.

but most often older stuff was done with really low pressure, in a siphon gun, with straight lacquer.

    thanks!

I hear ya, I didn't spend too much time standing around, as you know the weather was kinda shitty.maybe salina?

just for future reference, ill be the good looking guy.

I've seen the truck in person on a cloudy day and in full sunlight and I can attest to the fact that it looks better in person than in the photos and it's all smooth and evenly shiny. Y'all should have seen the guys at O'Reilly Auto Parts drooling!

I love how you broke down each step, I hope this inspires more " painters" to get out there and try it. I love the idea of custom paint, I just never have anything to try it on or a place to shoot it. I was lucky enough to have a good friend let me try a little candy and flake on his roof a few years ago, that was reallly cool. Good luck on getting votes.

Ryno so bad ass and thanks for the lesson again. One question. When you did the dark base candy colors violet on the fans and rootbeer on the shells or even when you sprayed over the lace. How many passes did you put on it to get the desired under tone? Just one good one with your template? I know the top lighter color was obviously a couple coats but I'm wondering about the dark "pattern" coats. Hope ya get what I'm asking.

Again thanks so much u got my vote

on the fans and shells, 1 maybe 2 passes, with the lace depends on the degree of color you want, or fade your desiring, but in a nut shell id say 2- 3 passes, maybe more around the edges if a fade is desired.

not sure I mentioned this or not, but be sure to wipe your stencil clean every couple passes, as you will have a lot of buildup and it will make a mess.

top coat is until you get the color/effect you want, which is tricky, because you can drown out the under effect if too much top color is added.

  26. AWESOME! Got some great ideas for my Pick-up....Stay tuned!

  27. I'm beyond stoked about this tech, I'm gonna give it a go on my 62 roof. I don't know shit about colors or what looks good or any of that, but I'm doin it anyway! I'll be using this thread as a how to manual! Thanks for taking the time.
