Hey , just did a few advanced searches, could not find any mock up or tech on buildinga wheel / tire combo mock up like the "wheel rite" or some such thing, i'm interested in seeing if anyone has built such a beast, seeing it's tech week, now's the perfect opportunity. Thanks, Derek
i've always just used my trusty ol' tape measure, hard to get any cheaper than that. it's never failed me yet.
I started with a wire coat hanger to simulate the tire but had some very close clearances so I did it this way. I already knew what tires I was going to run. Take an old steel wheel, drill out the rivets knock the center out and reinstall it rotated 45° so you can move it around as needed. Tape up the rivet holes on the rim, mount a tire (I used a couple of pry bars and some WD40) and you have the whole package.
