Most of the wood found in older (1920's) tends to get soft and makes it difficult to attach the body panels and upholstery.

A product that I came across (no this isn't spam) that can help harden the wood is called, "Wood Hardener." It's made for rotted wood to improve the strength. I have been using it on my "B" pillar posts in my '28 A Tudor.

You can check it out here ...
    http://www.pcepoxy.com

Click "Products" on the left side. Then click the "Wood Products" box on the right.

    "Wood Hardener"?

So that's what they were advertising in the back of Hot Rod Magazine... :)

    (Good tip, Dave!)

Hummm .. maybe they should have named it "Viagra For Wood!" :) :)

OK, OK, let's stick to the REAL purpose! It really does help the headers, "B" pillars and top bows.

There is/was a product called "git rot" for marine applications. You brushed the resin on the surface & injected it inside w/ a syrenge. You end up w/ wood reinforce 'glass.
