There is a difference in the 48-52 trucks and those won't interchange from what I have been told. 48-early 50 had a bed with a steel floor covering and raised sides, late 50-52 had a bed with an exposed wood floor and flat sides and the latch hooks are different. If you have a 48-50, you probably have a better chance of a 47 tailgate working.
42 to 47 will work through at least to 50. there is a difference with the mount catch... I used a 49 tailgate on my 42. but swapped the catches.
