Ok made up my mind to use my 8Ba in my 39' sedan. The flatty will be running a old weiand 3x2 intake with a trio of 94's a pair of headers with a mild cam and a electronic dizzy.I have a s-10 t5 with following gears in it <TABLE class=body-estext cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 border=1><TBODY><TR bgColor=#d9eeeb><TD>1352-192 </TD><TD>GM 1989 S-Truck 2.8L V6 Only </TD><TD>R</TD><TD>3.70</TD><TD>3.97</TD><TD>2.34</TD><TD>1.48</TD><TD>1.00</TD><TD>0.79</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> And plan on running a 8" rear in the car with 235/70-15's on the back. So question is does anybody have a good idea of what rearend ratio I should consider? This is my first flat powered car and would like it to be a decent crusier I was thinking maybe 3.50's.
I think your choice of 3.50 gears is very good. Overall torque multiplication in first is almost 13:1 (certainly enough), and gearing in top gear is about 2.76. With the tires you've chosen, you will be able to run 75 mph at just under 2500 rpm. I doubt you will find a better choice.
Thanks, now I just have get the adapater kit and set up the rearend and bolt it all together.I guess that means I need to take a 2 hr drive to wilcap.Damn the luck.
what bellhousing does your 8ba have? I have a brand new Offy adapter still in the packaging for Ford Car 8BA's with a cast bellhousing. I no longer need it and would like to sell it would work for you
The bellhousing that is on there now is a stamped steel one that is hooked up to a 39' top loader tranny. So I think I have the right bellhousing. The offy bell is the same as the 39' tranny mount right? So I should be able to just bolt the adpt. to the stamped steel mount.
