Got the hood fitted to the T yesterday, now I need to get some Dzus fasteners to hold it on and punch some louvers in it.
That is one of the best-proportioned longnose Ts I've ever seen. Great job. DZUS, pronounced "Zeus", are the fasteners you need. They are available in slotted style or butterfly head.
I was at AutoZone a while back, now you can get stick on Dzus-tabs! Dang, racers have been going at this the hard way for years.....
what kind of silly word is dzus anyway? how's anyone supposed to know how to spell that? should be spelled zoose. like Foose. Foose spelled like dzus is fzus. that makes no sense at all.
Yes ... William Dzus invented them circa 1932! ... from the DFCI Solutions Inc website: 1932 - 1935: William Dzus sees a need for a new type of fastener to meet the requirements of the Aircraft Industry a quick-acting, self-locking device. From this idea he invents and develops the well-known Dzus Fastener, with capability to withstand vibration and a tolerance for high stress and strain. Manufacturing begins as a one-man business in a small garage in West Islip, New York. The shear merit of the product creates a wide-spread market and the company grows. William Dzus (fourth from left) and employees at his Babylon, New York, plant in 1933.
I like it, I plan to eventually fab a hood similar. How much did you take out of the space above the windshield? I think I've got 2 5/8" marked to come out...wondering how it will look, yours looks just right.
hi wayne, looking good mate,,whenever i see your backyard i think of craig steering the a coupe down the hill,ha ha,bob
Thanks Robert, don't bring up the drive down the hill with Patti. It's still a sore point with her. I think it was the first time Craig saw his life pass before his eyes... :^) I wore off about a half inch of shoe leather, looked like Fred Flintstone dragging his feet for the brakes. Wheelbilly, don't remember what I took out but I've got 1 5/8 left now in the center. Hemi 32, I thought it was Dr. Dzus, the one that wrote children's book's.
capt. Zorro ... GD ONE! Now tell us ... Are you in any way related to Señor Zorro? ... and before this thread gets even more off toipic, let me just say that your T Coupe is looking good!
Hemi32, No afraid I'm not as Famous as Zorro and no relation. I was a Captain in the Fire Dept, my last name is Fox (Zorro in Spanish) so one of my drivers stuck Captain Zorro on me.
that looks great man!!! I have a t coupe. I have been planning on runnning a hood as well. I am glad someone finally did it. It looks great!
Ratster, I was thinking about buying some dies and building a press myself. I did a search here on the HAMB and found a couple manf. for them. Could weld it on the back side of my english wheel and have a two in one set up. There used to be a couple guys here in town that punched louvers but I'll have to check and see if they still do and what they charge. Thanks
