I bought this 1917 to 1922 T body. It's the front half of a touring with a shortened bed just like the Ivo/Grabowski cars. This was an old hot rod, it had pearl White and Lavender paint on it at one time. It's missing all of the wood inner structure and a floor and a seat. What's the best way to build a skeleton for this? I know I could buy the wood kit but it's pretty pricy. I'm sure someone has done this before, any pics would be great!
Looks like a great start and must have been a cool car before. Can you measure from the front at the dash to the rear of the body for inside size for me? Thanks
I would look around at some of the other build threads and get some Ideas. My RPU was missing all the center cross members on the body and I used square tube to build mine up. Check out Blue One build thread on his 26 roadster. Lots of pics and might get you started in the right direction. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/26-t-roadster-build-thread.460009/
here's another one to check out http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/my-roadster-pickup-project.690822/
Some great parts to start with. You should check out Need Louvers thread Taking the ugly out of a T bucket. But what you have to do is to pick an era and stick to it. I picked late '50s. Need Louvers, Chip picked early '60s. And yes there were many differences in those era's. Seen some other great '40s,'30s and even '20s builds on the hamb. Looking forward to future posts on your build. A recent photo of my roadster. Gary
I'd get some solid round steel, and or some square tube and just form my own structure, will be stronger than wood in the end. Probably cheaper too. Plan on my touring car is to lay it out on the shop floor, get it squared up and start bending metal. Did it to a bunch of fiberglass cars when I worked for Zipper.
