The other day My 40 started to run crappy.
So I did a compression test
60 lbs on cylinders 2 thru 8 and 35 on good old no. 1
Put a vacuum gauge on the motor and got a solid 18 inches of vacuum
Opinion is motor is tired but is wore out even.
[Poured about a gallon of various liquids down the carb trying to
clean out the motor. Marvel Mystery Oil, Seafoam, Autotransfluid,
    water, and Liquid Wrench]
Marvel Mystery Oil made the best color smoke
{kind of a pink and really annoyed the neighbors]
Has a nice rap from the crappy exhaust valve on no.1
On another note the lights were getting dimmer and dimmer
Checked and redid all of the ground connections
    Still no improvement
    Car has a 6-volt Altenator
    Checked Alternator
    No high output side
    Had alternator rebuilt
The lights are now so bright
    They looks like 12 Volts.
Also the 40 has not run so good in years.Evidently you need a full 6-
    volt going to the coil.
So now I have the best running worn out Flathead
on the South Side Of Chicago {Tinley Park IL]

Well, now you need to post some pics. It is fun keeping the old flatties going isn't it?
