The orange 29 on 32 rails the 1st car on the post was from Calif. owned by McDermott. was in Hot Rod magazine around the mid 50s. It was purchased by Woody Brougher in 1959, a speed shop owner in Pgh. Pa. The car sat in his speed shop for years. had 3 different motors in it, but never seen the road. Woody would always sell the motor out of it before it was finished. Broughers was the main speed shop in western Pa. area. and Woody was in it to make money. Woody (Elwood) was a racer in his younger years. After Woody died around the early 80s. his son enheirted it
Bill Ruffner from Delmont Pa. bought it off the estate around 2005. Bill brought it back to its original configeration without restoring it. It was painted by George Barris. Bill drives the car a lot and is enjoying the history of the car while keeping it original.

Ryan, as always, thanks for the awesome thread.

I think our family's roadster and dragster would qualify as survivors.

The Corvette was built in Bakersfield and sponsered by the Evan's Electric when they had their rebuilding shop there in the sixties.

Man I need to get off my ass and go get the pictures of my car when the original builder had it in Autorama in the 60's. It looks...and is...so much different now and I need to get those anyway. The guys that owned it between him and I took it completely to left field. Now that we've tracked him down I'd like to put a little bit of his orginal vision back into it. I love these threads.

Ryan, Got to admit there are a lot of HAMBers working on these survivors. Wish I had bottomless pockets so I could do one.

My late brothers 32 Cabrio, currently being readyed for the road with on going plans for a full restore someday. Built in 1952 for son of owner of Pontiac dealer in Temple,Texas, my brother obtained it after owner decided kid would probably just kill himself in it. Dave, aka "Snort" then installed massive flathead and became the Milner of Bell County at the time. Engine no longer with car but suitable flatty will be reinstalled, all construction highlights (many lowlights also) just as it was from back in the day

I think "Survivor" is a relative term,.... I have some cars with history, They are on the list to be restored,... but the list keeps getting longer,.. with helping my one son with his house,.. and getting ready to work on another house for my other son,... And having to try to finish the house we started to build, and get our old Farm House ready for sale (in a bad market:)).

Not to mention, every time I turn around,... I seem to be working on buddy's Hot Rods and other projects I have,.... Will I ever get to these cars ?,.... I Dunno', But, If I don't make it to them (the road behind me, is a lot longer than the road ahead of me) ,... Don't miss the auction my wife will have ! :D

Do these make the cut ?

    B/SR #424 The Blue Racer,....

    A real 50's survivor, Deuce 5/W I first owned 4 decades ago.

After being gone 35 years,.. it's in my basement.

And I am working on this for a friend,... It was originally part of the Frank Mack Roadster deal,... acquired from Bruce Meyer, The Louie Shell Deuce Roadster,.... (SCTA, Gophers),... just brought up the body last night. And this is one of the three cars I'm working on,.... (More on this one later,... If I live long enough, I'm getting really tired.) this picture was taken at 9:00 a.m. this morning.

There are also a couple "O/T" significant cars in the barn,... I'm not trying to brag, just thought these might be of interest.

This is one of mine. Stored since 70. I am still looking for more info on it. It was used as a push/tow car for various dragsters in the 60's I have pics of it in red/white, blue/white and the current green but I have no pics of it when it was dark green.

    Any help?
