what is every ones thoughts on cheater slicks on supreme wheels ?I don't think I've ever seen it. I like supreme wheels and I like the square look of cheater slicks so I wonder how they would look together. Mostly how they may look on late 50s early 60s truck. I just my be crazy, just thinking out loud.

    They would look great imo.
For the front i wouldnt know thou. Im no fan of those with black walls. Its a perfect wheel for a skinny white tire. Just poersonal taste i guess.

I did not pay a great deal of attention to the 2 piece wheels back then but I remember MTs were outlawed at the tracks because they were riveted and the aluminum centers broke out when used with sticky slicks. I am one of the few that do not like any 2 piece wheels. I'm a an American guy or at least close clones.:D

I agree, one piece al-loo-me-knee-yum wheels for me too! :D

  16. I agree with Tommy. Back in the 60s-70s the guys who bought Supremes and Radirs did so because they couldn't afford Americans or they were doing a "Bellflower-style" custom. In those days I worked at a high-end salvage yard in Portland, Oregon. Walking through the yard, you'd find broken 2 piece aftermarket wheels on a good percentage of wrecked cars. Cragars seemed to hold up pretty well but broken Radirs and Supremes were in abundance...

  19. When did the "pie crust" slicks give way to the wrinkle walls?

Depends on the racer. The 66" fliptop Mercury cars were built to run on the M&H tires that were still the piecrust style, but you see those cars running Goodyears later on in the coverage in magazines. I think like most speed parts that some guys are afraid of the new parts until they prove themselves.

I think 65 the Goodyear tires were available. Maybe late 64.
