History SUPER STOCK A/FX & Match race photos

Seems that there was more than one or two incarnations of Petty's car. One car with a lot of changes done to it...or more than one car ?
There's a nice clean, pretty copy in the SoCal, NHRA Museum right now.

P.s. - I hate overly clean and polished restored OR reproductions. Cars, Planes, makes no difference.

 

The 43 Jr car was restored 3 or 4 years ago and I would guess that's the one in the NHRA museum currently. The first Petty Barracuda was the Outlawed car. 43 Jr was it's replacement after the fatal accident. After the wreck Petty berried it behind his shop, and this is whats left.

through his auto business but didn't learn of his racing days until after his passing.

Thanks X for the heads up. The pic that Loudbang posted is one that I got from Mel Parker, the original owner of the Hemi Blues. Quick85 did a fantastic job of cleaning up the picture, thanks! After several years of searching, starting with zero info (the car had been stripped), I found out the original selling dealer of the car, then name of the car, then found the original owner, got the whole story, the pics, and a pile of rare leftover parts that he still had. It was an exciting thing!

Sad news, Red Williams has passed over today.
I have had the honor to be friends with Red and had the opportunity to pair up with him at Bowling Green.

The Antlocer SD 63 tempest was discovered in a storage unit a few years ago. It was bid up on EBay to a fairly insane amount and then completely restored, fyi.
