not sure if this belongs in this thread, it probably needs it's own...but I saw this pic on the internets, something about the Carlisle Chevrolet Nationals.

Back to the top, please. This is a '65 Coronet that was purchased
by a friend in Lemont, Illinois in the spring of 1968. It supposedly
had been a Mr. Norm's car, but in speaking with Norm Krause and
Gary Dyer neither verified that. Dyer said he had no recollection of
the car and Krause said without any numbers to go by he couldn't
help. My friend Joe Mangine is long gone and a couple of us still
wonder where the car ended up. Ever seen it?

This is supposed to be the CKC Racing Team car out of San Antonio, Texas IIRC.
Man, would I love to pull some molds off of that roof....Or get it lase scan mapped and digitized....

I do hope it gets restored to either 1st year race version or the as delivered version.

Chevy missed the boat not offering this roof from the factory in steel as a real production model in my opinion.

The folks would confuse Chevy IIs with Marlins! :)

I also hope the car gets put back together eventually...it would be a riot to see it go down the track again

This is a story accompanying the picture posted elsewhere... Quoted....

"Clinton Snead sent this photo of the ex-Richard Petty 43 JR. Barracuda, which by then had been purchased by Eddie Ratliff. "Maybe it's not a famous crew, but it is a famous car," wrote Snead. "The reason I have these pictures is because my dad, Larry Snead, actually drove this car for Eddie Ratliff a few times, and he is on the far left in this picture. One quick and interesting story about this truck: When Eddie acquired the car, he, of course, had to paint the truck to match. From what I have been told, they actually made a pattern from the '43 JR.' on the side of the race car and used that as a stencil to paint it on the door of the truck. No vinyl wraps in those days! And yes, I know this is more of a flatbed truck, but I still thought it would go with the theme."

...Previous to the above in the early goings...

I don't really know about the history I just snooped around and found some info but you are absolutely right there were 2 43 Jr's...here's the story...

I guess Ratliff is in the Fuzzy

    Quoted below...

'Sometime in 1966, Petty sold the car, and while subsequent owners appeared to have kept it on the strip through the mid-1970s, its history gets a little fuzzy for a couple decades.'

A big thanks to all who responded to the Eddie Ratliff question. Fascinating stuff. Had no idea the Pettys sold that car. I knew most of the story about the first 43jr. You all have come through again.
