Yep! Atlantis bought the molds from Revell and are now in production... I'd wait a couple of weeks before checking your local hobby shop....
Those will be awesome kits. I might have to see about snagging one to use as a basis for a 1:12 replica. Very cool...
Got the front suspension put together. She's roller now... Next up is the grill shell, hood, and cowl.
I seen this hand-built model at a local antique store, but I could never pull the trigger on it until after finding some antique baby stroller wheels. I had drill out the hubs to match the axles and I extended them out further. It's got a solid boattail rear and brass sheetmetal. I'll slowly add to it with found objects.
Nice find @ZZ Top Chop. Made a bit more progress, but first a brief explanation is in order... As was often the case back in the day, my model "kit" now offers at least one alternate build option. Mine now has the option of a new track nose. I was inspired by this cycle car's nose, with the single Cyclops headlight. So there's that. The narrowing nose and hood would likely not offer room enough for a flathead V8. After listening more closely to my sound card, it actually sounds more like a 4 banger, or flathead six. So with the longer hood, I'm (ostensibly) now going for a Mopar flathead in-line six. That's my story and I'm sticking to it... Happy (Halloween) Sunday Modeling, David
Wow guys ....I'm seeing some very nice builds , projects and finished. And quick I didn't know you were into the vintage road racers ...Can-Am ? Some time back I come up with a stash of old photos, a person was cleaning out a old house and found this bunch of old BW race car photos in a closet and brought them to me....gave them to me. They haven't seen the light of day for some 50 years. There bw 8"x10"s and 11"x14"s of Trans-Am ,Can-Am, Formula 5000's and scca sedans....believed to be Delta Park road course in Portland Oregon about 1968 or possibly some in Seattle Washington. Looks like your package is going to have a little something extra........you know .... packing peanuts , don't want that model to get damaged.
Very cool quick...oh yes , memories of days at the races....oddly one of mine involved breast....kind of, actually it was more of a leg thing, one year at the Portland 200 or Cart race around 87, a friend and I were walking down through the pits and a very hot chick with legs going up....and breast that...anyways a very attractive girl went walking by and while checking her out and not watching where I'm going....I walked right into the path of another guy and almost collided .. and apparently he was checking out the same view ...and as I look up all red faced and apologize ,it's Bobby Rahal , I about crapped ...he says "ya...very nice" as he is giving me a thumbs up ...he went on and won the race that day,
Thanks for the comment quick85. I know this idea will not be to everyone's taste. But I have a vision, so hang in there with me. When it's all done you can say "I told you so". But maybe I'll be able to bring my vison to life enough for you to see it too. We'll just have to wait & see... Cheers, David
It's a pain in the ass, but it can be done... I did it once with a '68 Dodge Dart body and it turned out ok....
Damn Deuces.....throwing a group of very nice builds of some very cool rides at us like that ...all at once....is sure to put a bump in the jeans. I must say though , living in Oregon all my life and hell running on the old pit run rock logging roads , 3"x4" rock with no fines, it can beat the hell out of a rig in no time......but I have never run across a rock road like the one that beautiful green Pontiac is on.....well except in a rock quarry driving a Cat 988 loader.... Anyways you have some beautiful cars of some very cool subject matters....nice landscape also.
The models are not mine! Wish they were.... The guys at Model Cars Magazine built those... So the credits go too them.....
