Just looking for opinions on Visors.
Some guys hate them with a passion, other say it's a custom must have.
Opinions or pics on why to get one, or to save my money.

*Hypothetically, I'm asking how you think they look on a '53/'54 Chevy.

    Thanks,
    KP

there cool on those...if the rest of the car or truck is done right. A's and early picks ups all had them. To me it's different than adding a Fulton on the right package.

I like visors on stockers, had one on my 49 Sedan. with a custom I say the idea is to smooth things off, no ad ons.

visors on customs seems to be an east coast thing. someone recently posted some 70's era pics from somewhere in the cold weather and there was lots of visors on custom cars.

I don't have anything against them, but to me the cars look cleaner without them. I am not exactly sure what it is that just makes the lines of the car look off...

I like the look of the visors on Chevys from 36 to 52 or other GM models of the same year. They just don't look good on anything else.

i like em on cars and trucks from 36 to 57. had them on lots of my chevies.

  16. Keep in mind ... this is simply MY opinion ... I HATE 'EM. A week or so after buying my car, I bumped into the previous owner. He says "I forgot to give you the visor that I bought for that car" ... well, before I could even think, I said "keep it". My wife gave me shit afterwards "you didn't have to just blurt out KEEP IT, that was rude. If you had half a brain you would have accepted it and then sold it you moron". The truth is the wife is right but my first reaction was to tell him to keep it because I can't stand them.

Not looking to hurt anyones feelings here, it's just my opinion.

I would have said "no" 5 years ago, but now I have to say "yes". It does however depend on the look you're going for. I wouldn't have thought making the roof longer (the visor) and taller (the luggage rack) would have been good for my wagon, but it looks totally wrong without either one. The car looks lower and longer. I'm not totally sold on them on a coupe, but with the right wheels, tires, and stance, then yes.

    Cheers,

    Brian

Personally, I like them. I just put one on my truck and I love the way it looks. It will stay on there for a few years until I chop the top, then I will take it off and put it away for something else later on.

I like them on the right car. I'm not a big fan of the overly smoothed off cars, they remind me of 1980's monochromatic street rods. I like some trim and accessories, especially on an otherwise mostly stock sedan.

I was there in the 50s and I remember which groups of people had Fulton type add-on visors on their cars.

Since some people are eager to holler 'racist' I am not going to mention which two groups used them but it is safe to say that the visors have NEVER been considered for a traditional hot rod or a custom.

Around here the sun can be pretty brutal at the right time of day, so a visor can be somewhat functional. On a cruiser, lowrider or show pony they're fine, but it doesn't make sense to put one on a dragster.

They're cool, but they have to suit the car. I think my Pontiac needs one.

I do like them on some cars, but I have seen some that just look like a bad add on. I've got one in the shed for my Oldsmobile but I can't decide if I like it. Done right they look great.

They tend to look better on sedans than coupes in my opinion. They seem to take some of the bulk out of those huge roofs. I love them on a stocker.

  27. 50's cars yes. late 30's to late 40's no. just my opinion.

If it's a stocker or low rider, yes. Custom, no.
    IMHO

  29. I used to hate them and think they were for lowrider stuff only, but since joining the HAMB I've seen alot of cars and trucks on here that look great with a visor.

  30. How many car lines came from the factory, with an OEM visor ?
