Stupid move of the week

I posted a want ad, but thought I'd ask here as well... hope that's not against the rules.

Monday I went to put up the rear window in my Fairlane wagon and didn't realize the gate was down. (long story) It's in a million pieces now.. I need another one. It's a '65, though I understand earlier ones will fit. There is NOTHING in the junk yards, or new, and I can't really afford to get one cut.

Anyone have one?

 

what broke it? was it just it's own weight?

 

It broke when it came far enough out that the dried up seal no longer held it's weight. My buddy at the glass shop showed me a switch in the tailgate that is supposed to stop this from happening... guess it doesn't work :S

Hmmm I wonder if anybody makes roller dentures.

 

If its flat it's no drama to get one made. Get it made up in toughened glass in a similar 5mm or whatever it is. Getting a pattern is the issue.

It's flat and your buddy has a glass shop. Any way you can trade him some labour hours or something to get the price down?

Shouldn't be too expensive, no? Looks like they are a couple hundy online.

 

try Bob's Auto Glass they might have a pattern already
