  3. Yep, pure gold!! They've been around awhile but always great to see them.

    This obvious is my favourite

The lead photo is great, that is the former Veda Orr '32 when Jack Lehman and Bill Swartzrock ran it in 1949 before swapping out the body for the T roadster (299).

Its nice to see how these cars really were.. instead of the over restored items that have been re-done today.
    Great editorial J.B.

I always like to check out the cars in the background. This one looks like a chopped '40 Buick sedan.

NOTE: This is Charles Dimmitt's 1939 Lincoln Zephyr "Roadster" at a 1948 El Mirage meet.

    Here's a few more (B&W) photos of the car in '48 & in '49:

Autocrats Car Club President Charles Dimmitt behind the car in his driving gear was entered at the June
1948 S.C.T.A. races at El Mirage with this jaw-dropping Class D Roadster but didn’t run it. It was based
on a '31 Cadillac chassis powered by a V-16 that displaced 455”. The body was a Lincoln Zephyr that
Charles removed the roof (making it a roadster). Up front was a '38 Ford truck grill shell. He was back at
the July races and ran 107.52 mph for a fourth and last in class. First in class was Fred Woodward who ran
127.29 mph. Charles entered the August races, but the car never showed up again as it was way too slow.

I was surprised to see the red insert on Veda Orr's roadster - it looks good in that combo. I recall seeing the recreation at the Peterson and it had white insert.

Looking at the picture of the yellow City of Pasadena car, there is a red headed guy in the back. Is that possibly Clay Smith?
  17. G'day Bob, any chance you could take a picture of the Spurgin/Giovanine roadster from that issue of CT News? That issue is 1 of 3 I am missing from my collection and of course it has the S-G roadster.
