My wife has owned this Lark for over 30 years. She saw it in a storage yard in San Leandro, CA and told me about it. She saw it every day on her way to work, and about the time she got serious about finding out who owned the bugger, it disappeared. It had been stolen, completely trashed, and left on a street for dead. I happened to see it in a city impound yard and asked the owner if he wanted it. He was really sad, and said no. The weasel who owned the yard wanted 3 grand for the remains and after a hour of battle, I got him down to 800. I went back out to take one last look before pulling the pin and decided against it. Every panel had been kicked in, all the glass broken out, and the roof jumped on. It sat on the drums, in the mud, and I walked away. I got about 10 steps away, and then made the fatal mistake of looking back. All I could see was the first three letters of the license plate, and I knew that I was screwed. Please, are you kidding me!! I straightened out the panels, found a donor car for the trim and glass, and painted it the original color, with a flattening agent, since Nancy liked primer. I found a rusty Gran Tourismo Hawk with a 289/4-spd, and you know where that mill went... I surprised Nancy on Xmas day with her missing Stude. She cried, and swore she would never sell it, ever..... What's the story behind the #55 racecar? There HAS to be a good one to tell!

I've never seen one of those before! Some really good stuff in the last several posts, thanks.

I’ve always liked the front end of these Studies but from the B pillar back they lost their way. It should have been more like a Willys or a ‘40 Ford.
I used to drive by a 4 dr sedan sitting along side a garage on my way to work with an old faded For Sale sign in the windshield. Dirt cheap with a perfect front end but I just don’t care for 4 drs. My buddy Larry, who converted many a 4 dr Willys into 2 dr sedans, offered to convert it for me but I had other projects. As usual, as soon as I started thinking about it, it disappeared making the decision for me.

I'm not real fond of the back window, but other than that I like the lines. Easier to see out of than a '40 Ford on a rake. So round so firm so fully packed!
