  19. I didn't know Studebaker made such nice-looking cars and trucks, at some point in time.

    Hello,

One day, I was in another industrial area in our So Cal county. I thought I had the correct address of a place and I followed my map reading instincts. So, I drove down this industrial complex address driveway and came to a dead end. That was not nice. But, as I turned around, I saw something in my rear view mirror that was different than all of the other cars in the lot. Something was odd, though.

It was off kilter, although the rest of the car was pretty nicely done. It looked as if it had been sitting for months in the lot. The other rear tire was also off, as it rested on the ground.

It was a 1956 Studebaker Commander 4 Door Sedan that had been fixed up a little. If one were to give it a wash and detail, fix the rear tires and wheels, then it would be very presentable.

After I got home, I did a little research and came up with some interesting information, if it is the same 56 Studebaker Commander. There were plenty of all black ones, all red ones and a bunch of different colors. But, there was a black and red combo, Studebaker Commander that might tell a story or two.

According to the information I found, the red/black 56 Studebaker Commander was from Texas. Then after a sale (or two) it ended up in Colorado for a spell.

I thought I knew these cars but I give up on the grill question.

    ???

Looks like it has a 50 hood, 50 bullet and a 50 grill, but you're calling it a 51? Only thing I see on it that are 51 are the taillights.

  28. I bought this 53 Champion as a running car with incorrect OHV 6 banger.....swapped it for the chassis that's under my 34 Ford. For awhile I had 4 of them at once! Sold the other 3 one at a time. 53studey.jpg
