Stude distributor Drive Gear Stuck

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by flt-blk, Mar 10, 2010.

  1. I have a Delco Stude V8 Distributor all rebuilt and ready to go but need to pull the drive gear and oil shaft off a different dizzy. Can't get it off.

    The roll pin is out.
I tried heat, Zep penetrating oil, Candle wax
Whacking it with a block of wood and hammer.

    any suggestions?

  2. please post better detailed pics of the second pic. does that have a home...or maybe a soon to be home?

  3. That motor is going in the thing that is going in your garage, except with a bunch of head work and a little bit of Fuel Injection.

This Distributor is going in the Model A with some tricks I learned from GMC Bubba at the Ignition class. If I can get the drive gear off.

Some of those gears are pressed on, I know the one on my early Hemi distributor was a bitch to get off...I had to put it in a hydraulic press and push it out that way...be careful not to bend the shaft...

  5. I looked at my own picture and reallized both roll pins need to come out.

Popped out the other roll pin and it knocked out with a couple blows.
