This is my 34 ford coupe that I am making street legal. I restored it and raced it, now I am in the process of installing a windshield and lights ect.
I am 71 years old and it is time to hang up my helmet but I still want to enjoy my old coupe. I think driving it down to the coffee shop in the mornings will be a blast.

That looks good. I think I would just use some simple 7inch lights with painted housings to blend in with the car.

I have got my title, license plate and insurance. Still have to get DOT tires.
I sure hate to put mufflers on this thing. It sure will sound different. I have 2 seats in it now. Still have more to do but I will get it done before too long.

Just put some dumps on it. Johnny law doesn't mess with us old goats to much. I run mine open just about all the time.

Congratulations Andy on your driving career and your decision to keep driving it. Kick up a rooster tail or two every now and then.

  18. you should be able to cut a glasspack in 1/2 so you got some louvers, flatheads are naturally quiet
does Towel City still recap DOT tires? kanapolis NC I think they were like gumballs could ask for a hard compound

    Greg,
I will be sure to kick up a rooster tail or 2 now and then. I started racing in 1960 in a flathead powered 34 ford and I am going out the same way. I will probably use the old car as a pace car now and then so I am staying involved
    in racing just not driving.
The car is kinda loud. Exhaust is ran thru 3 1/2 inch drive shafts exiting in front of the rear tires.

I didn't race this one for 50 years. I raced with this car in 67,68. It belonged to a good friend. It was parked for 40 some years until I was able to trade him out of it. Then I restored it last winter and raced it 3 times this spring before deciding to retire. I raced about anything that ran on dirt for years, then started racing old vintage cars in 2000. I started Ozark Vintage Stock Car Racing Association in 2000 we race the old cars and have a ball. This is some of them on the track. This is just the last one I restored. I think it is 9 cars I have built in the last 13 years. This is just a few of the members of our association.

Thanks. Thought he might see a new reply and give an update. A street driven dirt track car would be a cool sight to see!

I have been driving the car quite a bit, went to a local parade. I drive it down to the coffee shop in the mornings. Sure get a lot of thumbs up and waves from the cars I meet. The doors are welded making it a little tuff getting in for a 72 year old. Love every minute of it anyway. I have a lot of guys saying they never heard a flathead sound like that. Having a lot of fun with this old jalopy.
