a couple pics of the style l'm doing on this build. mine will have a hood and a nose cone or a grille like the red & blue one.

l started working on the vintage modified/dirt jalopy street legal race car today.

this will be a slow build, but a fun one.

a two tone red is what l am planning for a paint scheme.

a SBC 350 will power this thing, auto tranny & rearend yet to be determend.

l'm going to remove about 24'' out of the middle and make it a two door. l want to leave the windshield, glass in the doors, side rear windows and back window.

the basis for this build is a track legal 2001 dirt car modified chassis, with all the adjustable suspension so l can tune it the way l l like it to ride and handle.

l will try and finish it in a year or so, then l want to get sponsers or whatever shows and tracks l can take it to for the purpose of raising funds for cancer awareness and research.

l lost dad, mom, several other family members and some real good friends to this awful disease.

l know many other have had this happen in there lives or had cancer themselves.

this in some small way is my way of giving back to the good people who helped us doing the hard times.

today's plan, cut the roof and remove the back 1/2 of the body off the frame.
gonna start with 21 1/2" removed from the car and trim to fit, it's always easier to cut than to add metal.

l don't feel bad about cuttin' up this car, the floor pans & trunk were almost completely rusted out, as in non existent anymore, and the area under the doors is completely gone. it would cost more to fix this car than it is worth, so a HOT ROD she will be.

got the top cut and a few other little things, then it started raining.

l got the shop tied up with other projects so no room inside right now.

where is all this global warming l keep hearing about? NOT here in the NW.

got the firewall cut out and did some mock up today.

still going to have to move the front half about a foot toward the rear so the firewall sits correctly,,,
just a little more trimming and it should fit 0K.

put it together, take it apart, repeat often.

got the body back off ready to start trimming for final fit in the next week or two.

my welding friend came over and we figured out the motor mounts and trans mount. he has to fab new motor mounts to center the engine and weld them in the chassis.

the whole drive train will have to fit a little different for street driving. also some fabbing for a bigger radiator to keep cool since it's not going 20-50 laps and get parked for a week. it's going to driven a bunch.

l got the "flap" cut off and did a little more mock up, probably going to have to cut the bottom of the car off 5 or 6 inches to get every thing to line up.

going slow, but still moving foreward.

Cool project ! Im wanting to do one too. Found an old 4door thrown in a ditch to stop erosion. Has a tree coming up through it. Now that the snakes are in hibernation I think Ill go buy it if the farmer will drag it out with his tractor. LOL!How do you subscribe to the build, Im new ?
