Sorry I missed you too Dr. Dave, tried to keep my eye out but guess I was looking the wrong way! Had a friend join me from Kansas City and enjoyed seeing Travis's Dad and his friends along with the speedster and hearing the stories about it- now I'm really envious. Hope to see you and all the others next year, my sons say they are going to be ready for sure;)

It was great seeing you, Joe. The coupe ran home just fine, never above 3/4 hot. Got 18.9 mpg

I'm glad, too. As soon as I shaved, I knew I had made a huge mistake! Loved checking out your Camaro; that thing is so stealthy!

  23. Arkie it was good to see you! I missed out on tracking down a lot of folks I wanted to chat with, I was really under the weather the whole weekend and still am. Despite me feeling less than par we still had a great time and cannot wait until next year!

We prolly saw each other at some point or other. I know I spent quite a while looking over your truck. First rate and extremely cool. Clarence (avatar) wasn't there this year. I shelled the tranny on the way to the '13 hamb drags and he went back home on a trailer. It hasn't been started since. However, please be on the lookout for it at MoKan this year &/or at your deal next spring. I've acquired a good 350 sbc and a T350 core, that will soon be rebuilt. These will replace the 283/350 that's there now (& has been since 1991). The 283 has tremendous sentimental value to me and will remain "on the shelf" for some unknown future use. It was the original engine in a '66 Impala that my grandmother bought when they came out in the fall of '65, shortly after my grandfather died. The 350 engine isn't new to the hamb, but its origin must remain undisclosed. Suffice it to say that the engine has made several very strong passes at the hamb drags in the past. I may never catch Denise, but I don't think that she will be able to do the parade queen wave while going down the track pressing the loud pedal only hard enough to be sure she beats me.

This year I rode with my bud Ed in this '32: https://www.flickr.com/photos/neals49/17163281308/in/album-72157650007824393/

I drove an hour and a half to his house, rode 8 hrs each way to Dewey in the '32, and then an hour and a half back home. Great trip with a great friend. Ed just recently acquired the car and has made a few changes for the better. Within the next few months when the exhaust has been routed under the frame, hoodsides installed, and wheels/tires changed it'll be much more hamb friendly.

But enough tangential stories. It was great seeing old friends and making new ones. I even got to meet Mick's son. He was selling shirts at registration.

Arkie; please don't forget that PM.
