I was posting on the A/FX Falcon thread. An interesting subject came up. An idea was thrown out to use straps to raise and lower windows like the 68 Hemi Dart had. ??? They did not like the idea of 68 type technology.Wanted 65 period correct type. Did any car company have that feature instead of say roll up type ?? Back in the day
I think the Dart started that. If you guys are 'serious' about building to a specific period, the research should include every pic you can find and the rule book. I bet the car had to be production for the lower classes, and the A/FX stuff was more open. I'd guess that around 1965, either you did not have to have the window up (gut it all) or the guys just installed a fixed window. A quick search turned up this site http://dearbornflashback.com/65afx.asp stating fixed windows.
A friend built a 55 street racer/gasser clone about that time and used vinyl straps with snaps to raise and lower the plexiglass windows. Not factory but we thought it was cool at the time. Make it as light as possible.
Don't think so - it was first (and only) used on the Hemi Darts and Cudas with the Corning lightweight side glass as far as Mopar goes anyway.
Im using them on my falcon on the doors, the rears are fixed in the up position. I attached it to the bottom of the lexan and put snaps on the door panels.
